The weather continues to be amazing!
As we head into the busiest part of summer, many of us are spending more time on the water—and our waterways are busier too.
It’s always important to remember the basics of safe boating, such as wearing lifejackets, using proper navigation lights after dark, and operating responsibly. It’s also important to be considerate of others who share our bays.
Whenever possible, please give docks and shorelines a wide berth, especially if people are on or around floating docks. Boats travelling close to shore can create large wakes that move docks unexpectedly, creating the potential for injury to those standing on these docks or getting in or out of a boat.
A little courtesy goes a long way. By boating safely and respectfully, we can help keep our waterways enjoyable for everyone this summer.

PaBIA is Pleased to Present Jamie Bunston for the PaBIA Board of Directors
Jamie is a lifelong cottager at Pollux Island. Son of David and Wendy Bunston, he and Emily are parents to two youngsters who thrive in their PaB world. Jamie has spent a career in real estate development creating community and partnership wherever he goes. He has served as a contributing member of PaBIA’s Ratepayer and Regulatory Affairs Committee providing important perspective and balance. He was involved during PaBIA’s initial work on the now approved CZBL. Jamie is pleased to assume management of this critical portfolio as Katie Findlay takes her well-earned leave.
Junior Regatta 2026

Hey PaB Community! We are so excited for the upcoming PaBIA Junior Regatta on July 25th at the Ojibway Club docks. It’s truly a highlight of our summers growing up here, and we are so honoured to keep the tradition alive.
Please join us with your friends and family for a barbecue lunch put on by the Ojibway Club and a day of friendly competition. We hope to see everyone racing, volunteering, and cheering on the front docks! Clean off those canoes and get training… the Junior Regatta is coming!
PaB Passions with Scott Weir
PAB Passions is a new community speaker and presentation series that celebrates the interests, ideas, and expertise of the Pointe au Baril community. Each talk reflects a personal passion — from lifelong pursuits, to creative outlets or curiosities.
Join us to learn something new, connect with your neighbours, and celebrate the incredible talent within our community.
Launching the series, Scott Weir will share his passion for heritage conservation and his love of historic architecture in Pointe au Baril.

PaBIA’s 3rd Sailing Race of the Season
Junior Zests are Welcome!
Week 3 is shaping up to be the most wind of the summer so far.
Course: Middle Reach
Date and Time: Saturday, July 18, 2:00 pm
Rendezvous: Andrew Rogers and Diane Dempsey, A76-92.
Two races: windward-leeward course (offset and leeward gate as described below)
This day is also the Wawonaissa Cup. This trophy has been awarded annually for almost 75 years. It currently rotates through the Laser, Scot, and Albacore classes. This year, it goes to the top performing Flying Scot. Can anyone knock the Vanderwals off their perch?
Junior Series Notice
This weekend is also the first race of the Junior Series. We are learning and trying to adjust to provide a format that is fun and accessible for junior sailors. This year, we are running fewer races, each race being shorter. The format is as follows:
Race 1: July 18, 2:05; Race 2, July 26, 2:05.
Class boat: Zests.
Course: Middle Reach; from the starting line of the PaBIA weekend race to the weather mark, then downwind to the pin mark of the starting line, back to the weather mark, then finish downwind over the starting line.
Plaques will be award to first, second, and third place crews. Boats are available from the Ojibway Club.
