Directors participating: Erica Allen, Dave Sharpe, Mike Berton, Helen Bryce, Hilde Clark, Tom Lundy, Michael Phippen, Cam Richardson, Nancy Rogers, Mary Thomson
GBA: Mark Gwozdecky
Unable to attend: Virginia Skuce
Environment Michael Phippen
The testing in Parry Sound of the outflow filters for washing machines has been completed. The Collingwood test has 200 participants. Analyses of the material captured by the filters and a report have not yet been completed. An improved version of the filter is being developed by the manufacturer but will not be available until 2022.
It was agreed that PaBIA will wait until the test results and improved filters are available before promoting filter purchases and installation.
Insurance Michael Phippen
Michael contacted BrokerLink Insurance for more information on the Directors and Officers policy. There are 6 GBA member Associations participating in the group policy with varying amounts of coverage. The policy will be sent to Mary Thomson to read. The topic will be included on the agenda for the June Board meeting.
Annual General Meeting Erica Allen
Due to the uncertainty of what COVID-19 restrictions might be, the need to provide sufficient notice to members of the AGM, the success of the September 2020 AGM and the ability of US and Overseas members to participate, holding the AGM by Zoom seminar format for 2021 was unanimously approved. Tuesday, September 21st, 2021 was chosen.
First Nations Mark Gwozdecky
Mark recommended that Board members view a video that covers the historical and current relationship of governments and First Nations. Mark will send the link to the video to the Board so that it can be viewed and discussed at the June Board meeting.
Social Media Hilde Clark
Savannah Richardson has opened both Facebook and Instagram group accounts for PaBIA. Hilde has a meeting with the Communications team (David Anderson, Mike Berton and Savannah) scheduled. To support the PaBIA Trivia section started in the eBlasts any suggestions for questions and photos would be welcomed. The topic will be on the agenda for June Board meeting.
Member Safety Tom Lundy
The “Watch Your Wake” paper (Pike Lake Community Association) has been posted on the Township website. A link to it could be included with our e-newsletters and on the PaBIA website.
Randy Johnson will work with Andy Blenkarn to address Fire Pump replacement parts concerns and a potential retrofit for easier starting. Updates to follow. It was suggested that an instructional video might be made of Marine Patrol starting the PaBIA pumps.
Member Events Erica Allen for Virginia Skuce
Plaques for both Junior and Senior Regattas will be ordered but no date will be engraved on them to allow them to be used in 2022 if the events can’t be held this year. The supplier will be asked for the price of small 2021 tags that could be added if the events are able to be held.
GBA Dave Sharpe
GBA Executive Director Rupert Kindersley has asked that PaBIA encourage our members to sign up to receive the monthly GBA e-Update. Dave and Hilde Clark will compose a blurb to be included in our Connections e-blasts.
Other business
Cam Richardson reported that the consultant to the Township is preparing the draft Comprehensive Zoning By-Law to be presented to Council by June. By September is should be available to the general public.
Meeting adjourned.
