Updating PaBIA’s Calendar
|
PaBIA is making every effort to keep current the 2018 Calendar on our website so that you can access information and make your summer plans accordingly. As we learn of the Ojibway Club’s events, we will also have those dates on the calendar as well!
We thank again our webmasters, Dave Andersonand Alexander Hepburn, for their dedication to keeping everything current and relevant, which is no easy task! Suggestions for improvements are always welcomed.

Fall Cottage Patrol Report
Bruce Tiffin, PaBIA’s Off Season Patrolman, completed the Fall Cottage Patrol in mid-November. Bruce took digital photos of any problems found, reported these to Nancy Rogers who immediately forwarded them to the property owners. There were several serious storms this Fall and all damages reported were caused by winds: tree down, door open, boats flipped over, dock on rocks. When he is able to, Bruce will secure doors and reposition boats, etc.
The Winter Patrol will begin in February. Bruce uses his Scoot then, to reach properties even if the ice is unsafe for snowmobile travel or where there is open water.

Habitat for Humanity in Pointe au Baril 2018 is a GO!!!
|
|
The 2018 Habitat for Humanity build in Pointe au Baril is taking shape. Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve has helped us identify a favorable building location to avoid disturbing species at risk on the donated North Shore Road property. Our house design is taking shape as well.
Friends and neighbors from all walks of life will work together to build this simple, attractive, affordable house for a selected partner family. It will be financed with an affordable, no-interest mortgage, geared to the families’ financial circumstances. This is an opportunity for islanders and village residents to learn new skills, make new friends while helping others, using efficient Habitat for Humanity management and donations of money and materials.
|
|
The mission is to build a “Going Greener” house to net zero standards to keep energy costs minimal and showcase affordable housing in an environmental context. Will you help make this happen?
If you would like to know more about how the village and islanders will be working together to build community pride, please contact us.
To insure success, we will need:
- Volunteers*
- Generous donations
*Specific needs and dates for volunteer participation will be announced, as we get closer to construction so keep watching for updates in PaBIA’s eNewsletters and PaB Habitat’s Facebook page.
