The Township of the Archipelago has produced a report outlining the results for the Gypsy moth pheromone traps.
“Average trap catches in 2013 were 328 moths per trap, while, in 2014, average trap catches were 229 moths per trap. Pointe au Baril Islands Association saw a 97% increase in counts, while Woods Bay saw a 58% decrease (Table 1 and Figure 1). Based on ratepayer communications and surveys by GBBR staff, localized damage to white pine was observed in PaBIA. GBBR recommended scraping and/or power washing egg masses off the tree trunks, which could help to alleviate next year’s defoliation.” >> Full Report
